My First Year School Experience - 1694 Words
Growing up in a family that values relationships has a significant impact in my personality and my educational success. In my early childhood, I have learned how to be responsible, caring, sharing and independent, which shaped who I am today. In my home environment, we appreciate social and personal relationships. However, my first year school experience wasnââ¬â¢t successful as my home environment. To illustrate, the first year of school was the hardest stage in my educational experience. I had a class where I had experienced some negative attitude and negative words about my work. Teachers taught while we listened. The teacher could respond to any questions asked by students. In addition, there was not much of follow up made to see if oneâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦To illustrate, during my teaching training, I was taught to pay more attention to deliver the information to the students to make sure that they understand the content without giving them the chance to share their point of view. In addition, I was advised to have a strong personality in the classroom so that students would respect me and to not allow them to talk about anything that is not related to the subject or even listen to their views. Therefore, because I was taught to essentially disregard my students, they wonââ¬â¢t have a sense of relatedness to me. This is the same training that all teachers receive in my community, and it needs to be addressed. Teacher-student relationships are not strong enough to make students feel comfortable in the classroom which leads them to miss some classes and have low school outcomes. Thus, I strive to create awareness among teachers and school administrators about the importance of sense of belonging and its influence on studentsââ¬â¢ academic performance by conducting this research and reviewing related researches that discuss and investigate the impact of sense of belonging on studentsââ¬â¢ academic achievement.
